Local newspaper editor detained in Algerian city of Annaba

NewsReporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns this week’s arrest of Mustapha Bendjama, the editor of the opposition daily La Provincial in the city of Annaba, in northeastern Algeria, and calls for his immediate release. Bendjama was arrested at the newspaper on the afternoon of 22 October by four plainclothes policemen, who took his computer’s central storage unit.
