Legal Program for Detained Immigrants Under Review

The U.S. Justice Department is re-evaluating its program that educates undocumented immigrant detainees about their legal rights to determine its worth and cost effectiveness — both of which were demonstrated in a previous study. Almost 20 nonprofit organizations carry out the Legal Orientation Program in detention centers around the country. Bill Rodgers reports on the work of one of these groups, the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center, or PIRC.
