Why Brazil's President Needs to Change His Tune About Older People

President Jair Bolsonaro has been peddling the myth that only older people are at risk from Covid-19. At the same time, he has repeatedly dismissed their needs. His  disinformation and callous remarks about the country’s 28 million people over 60 make it harder for public health officials to save lives. Data from Europe and the United States shows that people of all ages are susceptible to Covid-19, including to severe illness and death.
