Afghan officials say the Taliban have kidnapped a provincial election candidate in northern Afghanistan.The governor of Sar-i-Pul province told reporters Monday that Hussain Nazari and at least six of his supporters were abducted at gunpoint while traveling in a taxi to the provincial capital.The abduction is the latest violence in the run-up to elections Saturday in which voters will cast ballots for a successor to Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
