UN Extends Arms Embargo on Somalia

The United Nations Security Council has extended a partial arms embargo on Somalia through October, because of reports that militants are getting weapons intended for government forces.All 15 Council members agreed Wednesday that the requirements for ending the 22-year embargo have not been met.They also condemn the misuse of such weapons as a serious threat to peace and security.The embargo was partially lifted a year ago to get more weapons to Somali forces fighting al-Shabab militants....
