The coming elections will help determine the extent to which the United States seeks to uphold human rights, equal protection of the law, and the stated values of “liberty and justice for all.” The United States has a long way to go before it is truly a nation where everyone can live in dignity; speak out and have families as they please; put sufficient food on the table; send their kids to a decent school; see a doctor without fear of financial ruin; and feel safe in their own skin.
