Mexican government declines to recognize freedom of expression crisis

NewsFollowing a dialogue with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador during a press conference on November 6 and meetings with Mexican government officials, an international mission comprised of 17 international organizations dedicated to freedom of expression underscores its concern regarding the lack of guarantees offered by the Mexican state to solve the country’s grave freedom of expression crisis and the state’s failure to recognize the seriousness of the problem. In 2019 Mexico became the deadliest country in the world for journalists.
