Moroccan appeal court increases journalist’s jail sentence to 15 years

NewsReporters Without Borders (RSF) is stunned by the Moroccan judicial system’s determination to persecute newspaper owner and editorialist Taoufik Bouachrine, whose jail sentence has just been increased from 12 to 15 years on appeal. In a decision handed down on 25 October, a Casablanca appeal court not only added three years to Bouachrine’s prison sentence but also fined him a massive 255,000 euros.
