Slovak press law change would dangerously expand politicians’ “right of reply”

NewsReporters Without Borders (RSF) is a concerned about a proposed amendment to Slovakia’s media law that would make it easier for Slovak politicians to demand a right of reply in the media, even when the facts at issue were proven and verified. RSF fears that this could jeopardize the freedom to informAs things stand, politicians only have an automatic right of reply when “false or mendacious” claims have been published about them.
