Tibetan Beasts of Burden Lighten Financial Load on US Ranches

No one knows for sure when yaks were first domesticated, but it's likely that they were first bred thousands of years ago as beasts of burden for the caravans of Himalayan trade routes. The massive hairy ox-like creatures are found in the high mountains of Central Asia, where they provide meat, milk, hides and labor. But as VOA’s Tibetan Service reporter Yeshie Dorje tells us, they are increasingly finding new homes in America’s high country. Mil Arcega narrates.
