Uruguay Should Condemn Venezuela at the UN

Dear Minister Nin Novoa, I am writing to respectfully urge you to adhere to the joint statement on Venezuela’s crisis delivered by Peru on July 6, 2018, at the United Nations Human Rights Council. The statement, which was a regional initiative, has already been signed by 53 states from around the globe and is open for signature until Friday, July 20. It is disappointing that Uruguay, a country that has historically been an ally in the protection and promotion of human rights at the United Nations, has not yet signed on to this initiative.
