US Government Shuts Down; Senate Passes Bill, Sends It to House

The U.S. Senate, early Friday morning, voted 71-28 to approve a combined bill to fund the government through March 23 and a two-year federal budget. The legislation now goes to the U.S. House, where its future is less certain.
