English-Montreal School Board hears Afrocentric School Proposal

Montreal – On Tuesday, May 27, 2008, the Steering Committee for an Afrocentric School in Montreal makes its presentation at the EMSB Public Hearings on Focus-Schools. The presenters, Reverend Darryl G. Gray, Latoya Morgan, Vladimir X Delva and Dan Philips, will also table the 70+page proposal document tonight. Limited copies will be available for the media.

This presentation is the culmination of several community meetings all across the city,
including two meetings with Black educators meant to factor-in professional
recommendations. More steps will be taken after the hearings to follow-up on the

All interested are invited to come out and hear the proposal. The hearings will be held at the Hampstead School, located at 83 Thurlow, Hampstead, at 19h30pm. Doors will open at 19h00pm.
