Ethiopia releases opposition leader

Wednesday 6 October 2010 Birtukan Mideksa, head of the Unity for Democracy and Justice Party, was freed after serving 21 months of a life sentence. Amnesty International has welcomed Wednesday's release of opposition leader and prisoner of conscience Birtukan Mideksa by the Ethiopian government.
