Plusieurs études montrent que les grands événements sportifs internationaux s’accompagnent souvent d’une hausse des violences conjugales. Le format élargi du Mondial 2026 – qui concerne plus d’équipes nationales et génère plus de matchs, donc plus de retransmissions susceptibles de provoquer des consommations d’alcool excessives, propices aux violences domestiques – pourrait accentuer ce phénomène. Face à ce risque, associations et autorités de plusieurs pays ont multiplié les campagnes de sensibilisation et les dispositifs d’aide aux victimes de violences conjugales et, au-delà, aux supportrices…La Conversation
