Jamaica - RSF concerned over proposed Data Protection Act's potentially "chilling effect" on press freedom

NewsReporters Without Borders (RSF) urges the Joint Select Committee for Jamaican Parliament to amend the proposed Data Protection Act, as its current version could have a chilling effect when applied to journalists that would far outweigh its benefits. RSF sent a letter today to Committee Chairman Andrew Wheatley suggesting the Bill include an explicit blanket exemption for journalists.
