Myanmar: Drop Case Against Kachin Religious Leaders

Expand Langjaw Gam Seng and Dumdaw Nawng Lat. © KBC   Update 10/27/17: On October 27, 2017, Dumdaw Nawng Lat, 67, and Langjaw Gam Seng, 35, were found guilty of all charges by the Lashio District Court in northern Shan State. Both were convicted under the Unlawful Associations Act section 17(1) and the Export and Import Law section 8. Langjaw Gam Seng was sentenced to 2 years, 3 months in prison. Dumdaw Nawng Lat was sentenced to 4 years, 3 months in prison – an additional two years for charges of criminal defamation under Penal Code section 500. Human Rights Watch called for these verdicts…
