South Korea: Sanctions on North Korea Will Remain in Place

South Korea said Thursday its stance on sanctions against North Korea remains unchanged, despite its efforts to improve ties with the North.  South Korea’s Unification Ministry, which handles inter-Korean affairs, said the government will keep the so-called May 24 measure, a retaliatory action taken in 2010 after the fatal sinking of a South Korean navy ship that claimed the lives of 46 sailors.
