Thai King Cancels Appearance At 87th Birthday Celebration

Over a span of eight decades Thailand has had 16 constitutions or temporary charters, been governed by more than 30 prime ministers and witnessed 10 successful military coups. But there has been only one king: Bhumibol Adulyadej. As VOA Correspondent Steve Herman reports from Bangkok, the kingdom on Friday marked the monarch’s 87th birthday but the scheduled official ceremony was canceled at the last minute.
