Shifa hospital Gaza: the daily struggle to save lives

Patients who arrive at the hospital in Gaza are often very seriously injured. Staff have to act very quickly to save lives. In the emergency room, the most urgent cases get quick attention – these people are resuscitated, as Dr Maurro della Torre explains. This ICRC surgeon and anaesthetist, who came in to reinforce the Palestinian medical team at Shifa, talks about the daily struggles of the hospital where hundreds of war wounded are treated.
