UN finds Brazil failed to prevent pregnant woman’s death

19 August 2011 A landmark UN decision has found that Brazil discriminated against a pregnant Afro-descendant woman and failed to prevent her death. Brazil must urgently improve the health services available to women during and after pregnancy, Amnesty International said today after a UN body determined the country failed to prevent the death of a pregnant Afro-Brazilian woman.
