NDP. Nycole Turmel, MP for Hull-Aylmer chosen as leader

Nycole Turmel, MP for Hull-Aylmer, has  been selected by the New Democratic Party caucus to replace leader Jack Layton while he receives treatment for a new cancer.

Turmel is a former public service union leader and Layton's recommendation for the job when he announced he will step aside temporarily.

The NDP caucus met this morning on Parliament Hill to endorse Nycole Turmel's appointment.
