Social Taboos, Lack of Awareness Contributes to Child Sex Abuse in Pakistan

The recent rape and murder of a seven-year old girl in Pakistan's eastern city of Kasur is still causing shock and anger across the country. Child sex abuse was not a topic of public debate in the conservative Islamic country until Zainab's murder, but now the issue of protecting children has come to the fore.
