Food Waste in Africa Proves as Devastating as Hunger

Among other things, hunger is a familiar problem in sub-Saharan Africa, where, according to the U.N. World Food Program, one person in four is undernourished. But food waste is also an issue. Many farmers do not have the means to safely store crops or quickly get them to market. These challenges could undercut efforts by many African countries to increase agricultural production. Lenny Ruvaga reports from Makueni, Kenya, where farmers are exploring new ways to preserve their harvests
