Study in Africa Finds Product Cuts Risk of HIV Transmission

Scientists in Africa say they are a step closer to prevention of HIV transmission. Researchers have been studying a vaginal ring containing an antiretroviral drug called dapivirine. Their findings show the dapivirine ring, inserted into a woman’s genital tract and used for a month at a time, reduced the risk of HIV infection by 27 percent.
