Saudi Arabia Executes 47 Convicted of Terrorism

The Interior Ministry of Saudi Arabia said the country executed 47 people convicted of terrorism on Saturday. The ministry said prominent Shi'ite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr was among those put to death. He was a central figure in Shi'ite protests that erupted in 2011's Arab Spring and his execution may revive unrest among the kingdom's Shi'ite minority who complain of marginalization.
