US Voting Rights Act Turns 50

Fifty years ago, lawmakers approved, and U.S. President Lyndon Johnson signed, the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The measure outlawed racial discrimination in voting and provided the necessary federal enforcement to allow millions of blacks in many parts of the southern United States to exercise their right to vote. The law followed years of protests, civil unrest and bloodshed. Correspondent Chris Simkins has more.
