Trading in China Volatile as Beijing Tries to Calm Markets

Trading in China was volatile on Tuesday, a day after the country's main stock market suffered its steepest plunge in eight years. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index ended a turbulent morning session down 1 percent, after falling as much as 5 percent after opening.
