Typhoon Chan-hom Makes Landfall in China

Typhoon Chan-hom made landfall south of Shanghai, China, Saturday afternoon. The storm had winds gusting to 160 kph and dumped about 100 millimeters (4 inches) of rain as it landed near Zhoushan in Zhejiang province. Heavy downpours were reported in other areas, such as the village of Lai'ao, which reported 400 millimeters (16 inches) of rain since Friday evening.
