7.4-Magnitude Quake Hits Papua New Guinea, Tsunami Possible

A strong, 7.4-magnitude earthquake shook Papua New Guinea on Tuesday, prompting a warning of a minor tsunami along the coast of the island nation. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck at a depth of 63 kilometers and was centered 133 kilometers south of the town of Kokopo on the island of New Britain.  The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said a localized tsunami wave of up to one meter was possible.
