Tsunami Warning Canceled After Quake in Papua New Guinea

Authorities have canceled a tsunami warning that was issued after a major earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.7 struck Monday off the South Pacific island nation of Papua New Guinea. The quake hit at a depth of 65 kilometers, about 55 kilometers from the city of Kokopo on the island of New Britain, and nearly 800 kilometers from the capital, Port Moresby.
