Parma Food Producers Worry About Impact of Imitations

The Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy is famous for its good food, most notably the Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma ham, which have earned the European Union appellation of origin status. This means similar foods produced in other EU countries can't use those names. But the Italian food producers worry that cheaper imitations of their ham and cheese from other parts of the world could ruin the reputation of their refined products. VOA's Zlatica Hoke reports.
