Veterans Day Also Honors Non-Citizens Who’ve Served

Abdullahi Mohamud was 16 when he came from Somalia to the United States in 1986, moving in with Washington-area relatives. Two years later, when war broke out between the Somali government and rebel groups, Mohamud was granted asylum.  Mohamud knew he wanted to do something in return.
