Kurdish Militia Retake Northern Iraqi Town

Security sources say Iraqi Kurdish militia fighters retook a northern Iraqi town Saturday after fierce clashes with Islamic State militants. A Kurdish intelligence official says the fighters, known as the peshmerga, gained control of the town of Zumar and some surrounding villages after a wave of U.S.-led coalition air strikes on IS positions.
