Ruling Party Leads Mozambique Election

Mozambique's ruling party holds a strong lead in early results from Wednesday's elections, but the main opposition party is rejecting the counts as fraudulent. The initial returns, covering less than a quarter of polling stations, show the Frelimo party leading rival Renamo 58 to 30 percent in the parliamentary vote. In the presidential vote, Frelimo candidate Felipe Nyusi leads Renamo candidate Afonso Dhlakama by an even bigger margin, 63 to 29 percent. A Renamo spokesman...
