US Budget Deficit at Lowest Level in 6 Years

The chronic U.S. budget deficit has hit its lowest point in six years as the American economy continues to grow and help boost government revenues. The independent Congressional Budget Office said Thursday the government had a $486 billion deficit in the fiscal year that ended September 30. That is $195 billion less than a year ago and a better figure than either the agency or the White House budget office had projected.
