Russia: Protesters Found Guilty in Flawed Case

Email A Russian court’s guilty verdict against eight people in relation to an anti-Putin rally in May 2012 was a miscarriage of justice. The court will announce their sentence on February 24. Update, August 18, 2014 On August 18, 2014, four more defendants were found guilty on mass riot charges. Three of them were sentenced to real prison terms: Alexei Gaskarov got 3.5 years of penal colony, Ilya Goushchin got 2.5 years, and Alexander Margolin 3.5 years. Elena Kohtareva was sentenced to a conditional term of 3 years and 7 months.read more
