Afghan Sikhs Smuggled in Shipping Crates Seek Asylum in Britain

A group of Afghan Sikhs who almost smothered to death sneaking into Britain aboard shipping containers is seeking asylum in the U.K. Authorities at the Tilbury docks near London heard the men, women and children frantically banging on the metal containers Saturday. One 40-year-man among them was found dead. Thirty-four survivors, including a 1-year-old baby and a 72-year-old man, were treated for dehydration and hypothermia.
