5.3 Earthquake Shakes Johannesburg

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hit South Africa on Tuesday, shaking buildings in Johannesburg and killing one person in a nearby town. The U.S. geological agency says the earthquake was centered six kilometers east of Orkney, a gold-mining town about 170 kilometers southwest of Johannesburg.
