Quake Hits South Africa, No Causalities Reported

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 hit central South Africa on Tuesday, shaking buildings in Johannesburg. The U.S. geological agency says the earthquake was centered six kilometers east of Orkney, a town about 180 kilometers southwest of Johannesburg. A VOA editor who felt the quake says at first she thought a helicopter was shaking the building, then realized the sound was much louder. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
