Jordanian Court Acquits Cleric Abu Qatada on Conspiracy Charge

A Jordanian court has acquitted al-Qaida-linked preacher Abu Qatada on charges of conspiring to carry out a terror attack on an American school in Amman. The court said Thursday there was not enough evidence to support the charges. The preacher had previously been convicted in absentia in 1999 and sentenced to life in prison, but received a retrial after being extradited from Britain last year.
