Access to Safe Blood Can Reduce Maternal Deaths

The World Health Organization says lack of access to safe blood is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of childbearing women each year. In advance of World Blood Donor Day on June 14, WHO is calling for action to make safe blood supplies available to prevent maternal deaths.
