Turkish Police Detain 24 in Soma Mine Investigation

Turkish police on Sunday detained 24 people, including mining executives and personnel, suspected of negligence over the disaster that killed 301 people and sparked fury at the government and officials, local media reported. The Dogan news agency said Ramazan Dogru, general manager of the mine owned by Soma Holding, and its operations manager, Akin Celik, were among those detained, the Associated Press reported.
