Top US Court Upholds Michigan Ban on Considering Race in College Admission

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld Michigan's ban on using race as a factor in college admissions. The 6 to 2 ruling Tuesday rejected a challenge to a measure passed by referendum in 2006.  The measure changed the state constitution to prohibit so-called "affirmative action" in college admissions. Affirmative action is the practice of giving special consideration to racial or ethnic minorities.  The goal is to make up for discrimination that has led such groups...
