Colombia: Mother and son reunited after 15 years

He went to fight for an armed group as a boy; she thought he was dead. More than 10 years later, in prison, he told his story to an ICRC delegate and asked him to trace his family. The painstaking search was successful and they were reunited. In 2013, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) restored links between 83 families split up by the conflict or other violence in Colombia. More than 1,000 detainees were reunited with their loved ones thanks to ICRC financial support to cover their travel expenses.
