Car Bomb Kills 27 in Iraq

A car bomb has exploded in northeastern Iraq, killing at least 27 people and wounding 40 others. The blast Thursday went off at a grocery market in the town of Sadiya in Diyala province. The bombing comes a day after a wave of attacks, mainly in Baghdad, killed at least 35 people. This has been the deadliest year in Iraq since 2008, with the violence surging since April. The United Nations estimates more than 7,500 people have been killed in 2013, most of them civilians.
