Reporters Without Borders has learned that Melaku Desmisse, the editor of the Amharic-language version of the big-circulation weekly The Reporter, was in fact released on 10 October, the day after his arbitrary arrest for unknown reasons on 9 October. Desmisse was arrested in Addis Abbaba by police from the southwestern region known as the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples' Regional State (SNNPR), who took him to the SNNPR capital of Awasa.
