On 12 November, the United Nations General Assembly will elect 17 new members of the Human Rights Council, which is composed of 47 countries and is responsible for “promoting universal respect for the protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all, without distinction of any kind and in a fair and equal manner”.
