Burmese Ethnic Groups Begin Unity Conference

Burmese ethnic groups are holding a major conference to discuss ways to work together and engage with the government in ceasefire talks. The three-day conference, with representatives from 17 ethnic groups, started Wednesday in the northern town of Laiza at the headquarters of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), the political arm of the main Kachin ethnic rebel group.
