U.S. Government Shutdown Ends

The U.S. federal government is reopening Thursday following a 16 day partial shutdown, after Congress approved a last minute compromise bill to avoid a potential debt default. U.S. President Barack Obama signed the bill into law early Thursday morning. It will keep the government running until at least January 15 and raise the borrowing limit enough to put off the risk of default until at least February 7.
